Upcoming: 5th Edition of The Montreal Chinatown Multicultural Festival 2026

A Landmark Celebration of Unity, Culture, and Community

This May, join us in the heart of Sun Yat-Sen Park for the 5th anniversary of the Montreal Chinatown Multicultural Festival. As a cornerstone of Asian Heritage Month, our Drum for Unity theme brings the world to Montreal through the universal language of rhythm.

“Chinatown is for everybody. Every beat you drum is a message of unity sent out to the world.”

Jimmy Chan, Festival Founder

🏡 A Signature Family Day for Ville-Marie

This year, the festival serves as a premier Family Day for the citizens of the Ville-Marie borough. We are transforming Chinatown into an open-air living room where neighbors from all walks of life can connect.

By providing high-quality, accessible programming in the heart of the district, we are:

  • Enhancing Local Livability: Offering Ville-Marie families a safe, vibrant, and free cultural experience right in their backyard.
  • Fostering Civic Pride: Strengthening the social fabric of the downtown core by celebrating the diversity that makes our borough unique.
  • Building Intergenerational Bonds: From drumming performances, cultural dances, music and the traditional Chinese Lion Dance, we create a space for all ages to enjoy a program of fun entertainment together.

📈 Investing in our City: The Impact for Taxpayers

The Montreal Chinatown Multicultural Festival isn’t just a celebration—it is a vital economic and social driver for the city. We believe in a Chinatown that shines for all Montrealers, and this event proves the value of investing in our historic districts:

A Legacy of Inclusion

As Louese Hu, Miss Chinese Montreal 2025, noted, this event is about making Chinatown “busy, bright, and fun.” For the 5th edition, we are doubling down on that mission. For the City of Montreal, this is more than a festival—it is a demonstration of how cultural investment creates a stronger, more resilient urban community.

“The beauty of it is everybody supporting each other. We build a bigger and stronger community.”
